Secrets to Finding the Best Places to Stay

Secrets to Finding the Best Places to Stay

Hi guys! Welcome back. My name is Sebrin Elms, aka The Clumsy Traveler aka the Crazy Cat Lady. I don’t know where my other fur child is I think he’s crying somewhere. [cat cries] Ohp, there he is crying. Last time I talked to you about how to
save money for your flight [cat cries]… oh my god Last month I told you all about how to save
money for your flights on the trip that you might
be taking. I utilized those tips and tricks for my own
birthday trip coming up in Peru in about a month and a half. Now, this week I’m going to be telling you how I save for my accommodations. My first tip is to know where to get the best
deal. I listed all of these out in the blog post. However, I am a really really big fan of the
Honey Chrome extension app. That app scours the internet for coupons and
deals all over and puts it right in your cart when you’re
shopping. There’s a whole bunch of other places that you
can at look at for deals if you do not want to sacrifice your style
of travel. My second tip is to try homestays as well as housesitting. Now homestays you’re probably familiar with I use them all the time – like Airbnb. Housesitting – if you don’t mind having
a little responsibility like watching an animal or maybe mowing somebody’s lawn. Housesitting is really awesome because then that way you can stay in someone’s nice
house essentially for free. My third tip is – don’t get made me – hostels. I know you’re probably thinking that they’re
dirty, you’re sharing a bathroom with really gross
people, you’re going to be up til 5 because everybody’s
partying, and after my experience in Spain, that can be true. However, there is another side to hostels
that people don’t talk about. As long as you book a private room, book a
private bathroom, and make sure you look at reviews so you know
where you’re staying, all will be well. My last tip is to collect travel points. There’s a lot of information out there and
it’s way too much for a single video, but I highly recommend that you learn how
to travel hack so that you can save a bunch of points and
essentially be traveling and staying around the world for free. Tune in next time, I’m going to be talking
about how you can save for all those last minute
incidentals. Follow along on the Mint blog and make sure
you ask me any questions on Twitter, Instagram, email do people even Facebook poke anymore, I don’t
know. But you can do it. I don’t mind. See you later.
