Royal Kids – Inside Lady Gabriella Windsor’s Royal Wedding: Queen lends her relative St George’s Ch

To the mere mortals, the venue is nothing more than the fairy tale location where American former actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot nearly a year ago to the day, followed swiftly by Princess Eugenie and wine merchant husband Jack Brooksbank in October Yet many are completely unaware of the remarkable history of the building, which is in fact the eerie tomb of Henry VIII Here, Express.co.uk takes a closer look… The venue itself is split across three main areas  The first, and the most well-known is the Quire, where cameras were installed to give viewers the chance to watch Harry and Meghan exchange their vows  Its aisles were finished and roofed between 1477 and 1483 and features an array of fascinating points of interest  Examples are the The Oriel Window, which was created by King Henry VIII so his his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, could look down and view services  The Garter Knights Stalls are also featured in the Quire. The Plate, fixed to the back of a stall to illustrate the arms and titles of a Knight or Lady, remains in place after their death and has resulted in the impressive and important display in the awe-inspiring room today  The nave is another of the main areas of the chapel and features magnificent tone vaulting not completed until 1528 It also features the West Window, the third largest in England. The Lower Ward is the main entrance of the chapel for visitors who upon travelling through, will be led to the Nave  Another eye-catching feature of St George’s Chapel is the tomb of King Henry VIII, of which no expense as spared  Plans for the vast edifice features ‘fine Oriental stones’ and resplendent with white marble pillars, gilded bronze angels, four life-size images of the King and Queen Jane, and a statue of the King on horseback under a triumphal arch, ‘of the whole stature of a goodly man and a large horse’  The beautiful congregation also includes a tragic tribute to the only child of George IV, who died during childbirth, and the subsequent death of Princess Charlotte, a stunning stone memorial was created for her in the Urswick Chapel  It features a woman reaching towards the skies as an angel cradles a baby nearby  Among guests attending today’s wedding will be the Queen following an announcement by Buckingham Palace  The Palace kept it vague, adding the 93-year-old would be joined by other “members of the Royal Family” in a statement  It is unknown if Prince Philip will attend.
